چکیده

Analytical expressions for the symbol (SER) and bit error (BER) rates are presented for quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in the presence of multiple narrowband interferers (NBIs). The analytical expressions can be used for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels, and flat& frequencyselective fading channels. These analytical expressions have been validated via a Monte Carlo based numerical model. Unlike the interference-free case, results show that the error rates for QPSKOFDM are different from those obtained previously for BPSKOFDM. Results also show that, unlike code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, when analysing multiple NBIs it is not sufficient to take the total signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and perform the analysis for a single equivalent NBI, since the error rates are sensitive to the NBI’s frequency. An investigation of the performance of BPSK-, and QPSK-OFDM systems in a real, measured environment with 6 NBIs based on 3 floors is presented as an example of the practicality of the analytical models.

The Effect of Narrowband Interference on Timing Synchronization for OFDM Systems

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been of major interest for both wire line and wireless applications due its high data rate transmission capability and its robustness to multipath delay spread. However, OFDM systems can be extremely sensitive and vulnerable to synchronization errors. This paper investigates the effect of narrowband interference on timing synchronization for...

Transmission Systems Analysis of the narrowband interference effect on frequency ambiguity resolution for OFDM systems

In orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) systems affected by carrier frequency offsets, frequency ambiguity resolution, i.e. the estimation of the part of the frequency offset corresponding to an integer times the carrier spacing is a crucial issue. The proper action of frequency ambiguity resolution algorithms can be strongly affected by the presence of disturbances, like narrowband...

BER of OFDM System with Multiple NBI Rejection Cascade Complex Coefficient Adaptive IIR Notch Filter

In this paper, rejection of multiple narrowband interferers in a binary phase shift keying modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (BPSK-OFDM) system is investigated. The BPSK-OFDM system in consideration operates in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. A cascade complex coefficient adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) notch filter with gradient-based algorithm is u...

Coded Multiband OFDM with Tone Interference

We consider the convolutionally-coded Multiband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MB-OFDM) system for Ultra Wideband (UWB) communications [1], which operates over quasi-static, frequency-selective wireless channels [2]. Classical bit error rate (BER) analysis techniques for coded systems [3] are not applicable in this setting because the channel is (a) non-ideally interleaved (resulti...
